My friend Ritu has been doing art for many years, but it’s only recently that she got a bit serious about her talent. She is one of the artists whose select works are on display at Phalgun 2076, at Bombay Art Society, 28th February – 1st March 2020.
Curated by artist Vasanth Rao (who runs Car Street Studios in Sydney), Phalgun 2076 (Hindu Calendar of our current year 2020) is a show of 22 artists of Mumbai and Pune who have worked on the theme of simple objects that we see around us. Each artist has chosen one object and her/his art has developed around this object. The lantern, the key, the tea glass, the kite, the kettle, the conch… the artistic perspective is what you will see at Phalgun 2076.
I’m sharing the profiles of the different artists and hope that you will enjoy seeing a snippet of their art as much as I did. Even better, if you are in Mumbai, do visit the exhibition. You might decide to pick up some of the exquisite art that you see, to adorn the walls of your home or office.
