The SBI campus

My first visit to a bank in a long long time, and for a purpose. In the lovely winter weather in Bangalore, one can walk and walk without a sweat. The fact that I knew there would be lots of lung space made this a welcome walk from Richmond Town in Covid times.

Way back in the 1970s-80s this sprawling 12-odd acre SBI office campus on Madras Bank Road-St Mark’s Road was star-studded with Indian cricketers. Syed Kirmani, Roger Binny, Gundappa Vishwanath, among others, used to sit here when they weren’t on cricket tours. Special visits used to be made at such times to catch a glimpse of them!

Once inside the compound, I was focussed on what I needed to do, so I didn’t move off the route that took me to the main branch building.

Unfortunately, the trip didn’t achieve its purpose. On the bright side, I’ll take a better look and visit the nooks and corners the next time round.
